To reach our base from Interstate 95, take the Medway exit 244. Turn left onto Route 157, drive west 10 miles to Millinocket. Katahdin Outfitters is located just outside the Millinocket town line adjacent to Moscone's Bantam Boiler at 360 Bates St. across from the Sawmill Bar and Grill on your way to Baxter State Park. A good landmark to use is the Katahdin General Store - we are 8/10 of a mile from it.

In order to make your wilderness canoe and camping vacation go as smoothly as possible, here are some helpful hints. Try to arrive at our base with all of your personal equipment packed and ready. For parties going on the West Branch of the Penobscot River, a map can be purchased upon entry into the area.

For parties traveling to the St. John River and Allagash River systems, we recommend the DeLorme map. These are available at many of the stores in the area or they can be purchased directly from DeLorme Mapping Company, Freeport, Maine, 04032. Please mention Katahdin Outfitters when you call.

Katahdin Outfitters has no control, or responsibility for road use and camping fees. All fees are paid to the appropriate agency upon entry into these areas.

One of the decisions that you will have to make is whether you will be using our vehicle as a shuttle.
